ABOUT
The two-stage open architectural Competition that has no restrictions in the number of participants and is aimed at young Ukrainian professionals under the age of 35.

The competition is fee free.

The competition is held in two stages:
1st stage — the selection of TOP-10 finalists projects by international jury;
2st stage — presentation of TOP-10 finalists projects in the framework of the CANactions Festival 2021 and awards.

HISTORY
Within the framework of the CANactions International Architecture Festival 2021 the 13th Young Architects Competition is launched.
Launched in 2009 by the Dessau Institute of Architecture (DIA / Germany) the Competition has become a professional "path to Europe" for Ukrainian students and young professionals.
Since 2009 more than 1200 projects have been received, among which 129 finalist projects have been selected by members of the international jury.

As a result, more than 47 finalists of the Competition received special honors and awards from partners; 25 young architects got the opportunity to get a the Master Degree in Architecture at DIA (Dessau) on a preferential basis.

Award ceremony within the CANactions International Architecture Festival 2021
РARTICIPANTS

  • the Competition is open for students and graduates (specialization - Architecture) of the Architectural departments of the Ukrainian higher education institutions;
  • bachelor degree is obliged;
  • age restriction is up to 35 years old inclusively;
  • English high skills are necessary;
  • author or group of authors may participate;
  • CANactions team members cannot participate.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

  • one participant may submit unlimited number of projects filling in the application form for each project separately;
  • the theme of architectural projects are not limited (graduate as well as competition projects, studios and other types of projects may be submitted);
  • TOP-10 finalist projects 2020 cannot be submitted the Competition 2021;
  • copyright is owned by the project author(s);
  • one author (with involvement level of not least than 33%) from a group of authors can submit the project; in this case, the applicant is obliged to provide the scanned copy of the collective members' agreement. In the online application form, one must specify all the members of the authors' team and their percentage of involvement in the project design. The organizer does not consider controversies regarding authorship.
  • the organizer may use projects for non-commercial purposes.

AWARDS

AWARD — from DIA (Dessau Institute of Architecture)
— the Master Degree at DIA without paying the tuition fee. The total Master Course consists of 4 semesters; — the winner gets one return flight per year to the home country (two in total during the studies);
— accommodation and living expenses in Dessau must be paid by the student;
— the overall enrolment fees (currently 86 Euros per semester) must be paid by the student;
— the student save all the application procedures and the respective fees.

AWARD — from EASA (Europe Architecture Students Assembly)
— participation* out of the EASA open-call at the two-week "EASA Reality" 2021 in Kragujevac, Serbia, as a Ukrainian team member. During the "EASA Reality" the 40th anniversary of the first EASA in Liverpool, England will be celebrated.

*the team of organizers and the EASA network cover the Young Competition winner's accommodation and food costs during the event;
**the winner has to buy round tickets on his/her own.
AWARD from JUNG Ukraine
— visit* to Germany to the JUNG headquarters in Schalksmühle (Sauerland)

* the company covers the winner's flight to Frankfurt and back, travel insurance, accommodation and meals; the trip dates are open, the duration of the visit is approx. 3 days.
AWARD — from TU Brno (BRNO UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY), Czech Republic
— free participation in one of the TU Brno workshops or events in 2021 Tickets and accommodation in Brno are covered by the TU Brno.
AWARD CANactions School
— participation in the CANactions School educational program out of the competition.

AWARDfrom ArchDaily
— publication of the winner's project on the ArchDaily website.

AWARD — from KHSA (Kharkiv School of Architecture)
— the Master Course 2021 at KHSA without paying the tuition fee (in order to be enrolled it is necessary to pass the Master entrance exam and to have a Bachelor's Degree (specialty 191 "Architecture and Urban Planning"), and to speak English;
— the total Master Course consists of 2 years (4 semesters);
— the winner gets the scholarship, that covers 100% of the tuition fee (*the scholarship will be extended for the second year of study if the winner's 1st year score in all disciplines is higher than 80);
— the accommodation and living expenses in Kharkiv must be paid by the winner.
